I'm Not Ready for Christmas

The Hallmark Channel movie I’m Not Ready for Christmas will debut on November 14 at 8 PM.

Holly (Alicia Witt) finds her world turned upside-down when she suddenly finds herself incapable of lying. (Don’t you hate when that happens?) It’s because of a wish her niece made to Santa Claus. And now, with Christmas coming up fast, she has to come to terms with her natural penchant to want to fib while trying to do the right thing. And that’s no lie.

The cast includes George Stults (7th Heaven), Brigid Brannagh (Army Wives), Dan Lauria (Wonder Years) and Maxwell Caulfield (Empire Records and Grease 2).

Here is a preview and sneak peek at I’m Not Ready for Christmas.

Small-time con man Nick DeMarco (Barry Watson from 7th Heaven) is ordered by his parole officer to take a minimum-wage job as a department store Santa during the holidays and he hates it. Near the end of his first shift, he hastily promises a young boy that Santa will bring his estranged parents back together by Christmas. When his sister Rosemary (Melissa Joan Hart from Melissa and Joey) hears this, she is livid and can’t believe he would break a little boy’s heart with an empty promise. After a long night of soul searching, Nick decides to make good on his promise to the child, somehow. But after meeting the boy’s mother Carol (Melissa Sagemiller from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), will Nick ultimately choose to put the happiness of others ahead of his own?

Hey All,

Here are the news items for today:

TELEVISION

Actress Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY and Providence) will guest star in an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0, but details on what character she will be playing hasn’t been announced. (Andy Swift at TV Line)

Actress Annie Potts (The Fosters and Designing Women) will guest star on an upcoming episode of Major Crimes, playing Clarissa Fields, astrologer to the stars, who treats her field as a science. She’ll help Major Crimes reverse engineer a decade of murders. Naturally, the detectives will be skeptical until they start to realize that although she may not be able to exactly forecast the future, she can predict the past. (Natalie Abrams at Entertainment Weekly)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

After lots of rumors, it has been confirmed that actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock and Star Trek) will play Doctor Strange. (Mike Fleming, Jr. at Deadline)

Q&A SECTION (with Natalie Abrams at Entertainment Weekly)

Question: When will we find out who’s been texting Charleston on State of Affairs? — Daryl

Natalie: Charleston comes closer to uncovering the identity of her mystery texter in the next episode, narrowing down the suspects to someone on her team. But she’ll have other things to deal with when someone uncovers damning information in the report on the convoy attack that cost Aaron his life.

Question: What can you tell us about the Castle midseason finale? — Amy

Natalie: We know from the promos that Castle will have himself “a very mobster Christmas,” but there’s more to that than you’re probably thinking. Not only will Castle find himself dealing with a potential mob war, but thanks to an unexpected blood oath, Castle will soon be considered an “honorary mobster.” I wonder how Beckett will feel about that…

Question: Is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. about to lose the bus? — Joe

Natalie: You’ll find out the answer to that pretty quickly as Tuesday’s winter finale picks up right after Whitehall had Agent 33 order the plane to be shot down. “Our team is in grave danger,” executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen teases, hinting the writers may have considered a world in which S.H.I.E.L.D. is “left with only quintjets.” “It could happen at any moment,” executive producer Jed Whedon adds.

Question: Excited about seeing Reverse Flash, but is there anything else you can share on The Flash’s midseason finale? — Shari

Natalie: Does this sound like Iris is going to find out Barry’s big secret to anyone else? “There’s a relationship cliffhanger as far as Barry and Iris are concerned,” Grant Gustin tells me. “Some honesty is finally being shed on the situation.”

Question: I thought you said Regina fights with Emma, but the Once Upon a Time promo showed Evil Queen battling Snow White. — Ron

Natalie: It’s both, actually. “Emma escapes and Regina goes out looking for her and she ends up in the sheriff’s office where Mary Margaret and David are locked up behind bars,” Lana Parrilla reveals. “She’s like, ‘Oh, I came here to kill Emma and look who I find. My two favorite idiots.’ Mary Margaret and Regina have a full on battle. We’ll see Regina using a sword for the first time.”

Question: Any scoop on Hart of Dixie?? — Mary Kate

Natalie: If you’re wondering how the Hart of Dixie producers are going to hide Rachel Bilson’s baby bump this season, they don’t. Instead, Dr. Zoe Hart seduces Wade in an attempt to win him back (because sex always leads to love, amirite?) and ends up with a bun in the oven. Oh, and even though Hawaii Five-0’s Ian Anthony Dale would add some welcome diversity to BlueBell, he’s not sticking around. He’s just another one of Lemon’s fake boyfriends in an effort to snatch grandma’s funds for Fancie’s.

That’s it. Enjoy!

Have a terrific weekend!!

Anzac Girls

Acorn TV, the first British TV focused streaming service in North America, will be adding the U.S. Premiere of Anzac Girls, the new hit Australian drama from All3Media International, to their line-up starting on October 6. It will air every Monday through November 10.

Anzac Girls is a moving six-part mini-series based on the true and largely unknown stories of five brave Australian and New Zealand nurses at Gallipoli and the Western Front during World War I. This mini tells the harrowing but ultimately life-affirming true stories of five unsung heroines of the Great War, which is based on the book “The Other ANZACS” by Peter Rees, and drawing on the original diaries, letters and photographs that passed between the nurses and their lovers, families and friends, as well as on countless historical records, the miniseries is one of the first to be told from the points of view of the courageous nurses from the Australia New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC).

The nurses tend to the wounded and maimed soldiers of World War I with their own unique warmth, compassion and humor – bringing a ‘touch of home’ to distraught and damaged men. Despite the shocking hardship of war, they also form lasting bonds of love with the soldiers they care for and lasting friendships with the nurses they work alongside. As these young women put their lives on the line for King and Country, they undergo extraordinary personal journeys, overcoming prejudice, heartbreak and adversity as they play their parts in the theatre of war.

ANZAC Girls stars many up-and-coming Australian actors, including Georgia Flood (House Husbands), Antonia Prebble (White Lies), Laura Brent (Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader), Anna McGahan (House Husbands), and Caroline Craig (Underbelly) as the five nurses.

In early 2015, Acorn will also release the series on DVD and syndicate it to public television stations nationwide.

Anzac Girls can be seen at Acorn TV, via the iTunes App store, and its popular Roku channel. Acorn TV offers a free 30-day trial and thereafter is just $4.99/month or $49.99/year. Acorn TV subscribers also receive free shipping on all orders from Acorn’s catalog and website, AcornOnline.com.

Here is a trailer for Anzac Girls.
